Flashing
Flashing prevents leaks behind the
gutter that cause damage to the fascia.
Gutters need to be tucked up under
an existing Drip edge, or gutter apron.
Fascia Damage |
Two kinds of flashing trim. Gutter
apron (left) and Drip edge (right). |
Three Ways To Flash
1. Existing Drip Edge
Gutter is slipped under
existing drip edge. |
Sampson® bracket installed
over flange of drip edge. |

2. Installing Below Existing Drip Edge
Attach gutter with Sampson®
hangers below drip edge. |
Water will leak behind the
gutter so use an apron. |

Slip apron over drip edge
and tack under shingle. |
Do not remove an existing drip edge
because the shingles will sag and break. |

3. Where No Existing Drip Edge Is Installed, Use Gutter Apron
Tack gutter in place. |
Slip apron under shingle. |

Install Sampson® Hanger. |
